Recent events have included:
A Walk around Addingham Village to View a Selection of the Blue Plaques
The walk began at the Band ‘ole where a montage of images displayed its transformation from buildings dated 1686, which were used as the Addingham Poor House and subsequently as a practice venue for the village brass band, until 2007 they were transformed and extended to their current use as a small holding.
Saturday Lunch at the Bay Horse Snaygill
Members had lunch at the Bay Horse and afterwards took a stroll by the canal.
Visit to Cliffe Castle Museum
In July 9 members of the Group visited the newly-refurbished Cliffe Castle Musuem in Keighley.
Afternoon Tea Parties
Members enjoyed afternoon tea at the Skipton Building society Garden Party and also at Mount Hermon Church in Addingham.
Private Visit to Farnley Hall
This took place in June: a chance to see some of the paintings of JMW Turner which were inspired by the local area.
Picnic Walk: the Strid to Bolton Abbey
Some members passed a pleasant Saturday with a picnic walk from the Strid to Bolton Abbey, followed by tea at Tea on the Green.
Bi-monthly
Book club – (meetings are held in Members’ homes so numbers are limited).
Quarterly
Theatre trip to Ilkley Playhouse – timed to be able to take advantage of of the concessionary rates; usually these trips are on a Monday evening.
Annually
Christmas lunch – held locally in early December.
Day trip – we book places on a pre-arranged commercial coach trip.
Walking holiday – a 5-day break in the UK.
One-off Events
These are organised by members so can be quite varied. Examples of things we have done include:
A chocolate tasting evening at Chocolates and Truffles in Skipton.
Private Tour of Farnley Hall.
Visit with lunch to Christmas at Shackletons
Private tour of the gardens at East Riddlesden Hall.
Cream Tea at Mount Hermon Chapel Addingham
Visit to Farnley Hall, Otley
Visit to the Bell Tower of Holy Trinity Church, Skipton.
Ten pin bowling in Skipton.
Morning coffee and afternoon tea at members’ homes.
